Supermodelme.tv Day 12: The Press Conference

THURSDAY 14/05/09

We woke up and hair and makeup started at the house, we were running a bit behind schedule so we had to head to Red Dot where the stage, chairs and drinks were setup for the Supermodelme press conference. The hair and makeup for the girls that had been done at the house had to be changed because Karen wasn’t happy with the style so we all ended up with simple hair and the makeup was toned down, it was a mad rush to get everyone done in time but it all came together thankfully. We had a run through of what we had to do, each girl was going to be introduced and walk on stage, down the aisle and then we all walked on together with Charmaine and thanked all the sponsors.

The show went well and once it was all done we were given name cards with our twitter accounts, facebook address and the shows website. The idea was that we mingle with the crowd and hand out our name cards in an attempt to get people to follow us on twitter and show their support. There were a lot of people who are very influential in the Fashion and modeling industry in Singapore so it was very important we make ourselves known and remembered. There was talk of the mingling being a challenge so i was a bit nervous and just hoping that it wasn’t an elimination challenge but it turned out not to be the case so the pressure was off.

We were told we could keep our Topshop outfits which everyone was so happy to hear, I really like my dress but as everyone knew I was in love with the dress Kathleen had which is the dress I chose that won me the styling challenge and Kat generously offered to swap dresses. I was so happy because I was considering buying the dress a couple of days earlier when we had our shopping day and my dress suited Kat so it was a good trade.

After the event wound up we headed to a place called the Geek Terminal for what was called a Tweetup. It was basically an event organised for tweeters around Singapore and the event organiser Carl announced and introduced each of the contestants for the show and gave a brief rundown of the show. It was a weird feeling being there because people’s “tweets” were being displayed on screens around the room and after our introduction a lot of the “tweets” were about us and how we should eat more, why were we there and how there was a hidden agenda behind the tweetup to promote the show so we all felt a little unwelcome. We had dinner and then tried our hardest to mingle with the “geeks”, it was pretty much an introduction and handing out of our name cards. We didn’t stay for too long because the vibe wasn’t super friendly so we were all pretty happy to leave.

When we got home we were given FEVO MasterCard’s each to keep with $20 credit and instructions on how to activate them. They were so cool because they had our photos on the front with all of us in our white singlets. We all watched a bit of TV, activated our Twitter accounts and surfed the net. My best friend sent me a long email and I missed her so much reading it because she’s always so supportive, she was giving me tips to keep me confident and sane in the house. I miss being able to call her and bitch about the shitty day I’ve had or some ass I’ve had to deal with because I know she’ll never judge me or make me feel bad about the way I’m thinking, things like that are what I miss most about home.

I was so sore from all the dancing from the day before and had bruises all over my legs from the sliding along the floor so I went to bed, I was so happy that I had a massage to look forward to the next morning.
